Electrotechnical University of St. Petersburg - ETU (Russia), is the oldest and one of the leading
higher education Institution in Russia in the field of Electrical Engineering, automation, electrophysics
and some other sectors. The further restructuring and transformation of higher education system in Russia
require the updating of specialists' education not only in St. Petersburg but also in north-west
part of RF. The university has 7 Faculties, more then 45 Departments, 1,200 professors and teachers,
more then 6,000 students.
Electrotechnology and Converter Engineering Department will be directly involved in project.
The department has contributed to the realization of the JEP-10021-95 "Economics in Electroenergetics and Energy Saving by the Rational Use of Electrotechnologies".
There are also other departments in the University which develop research and teaching activities in the
fields of electrotechnology, ecology, waste treatment, etc.
Professors from the Department of Electrotechnology & Converter Engineering have big experience
in the fields chosen for the project and have made a lot of research in the same topics.
Moreover, as a consequence of the JEP activity, an Energy Saving Centre was established and is
active today in the University both for training needs, researches and industrial problems
solution.
Two new teaching Laboratories were installed in the university during the JEP which can be
used for the dissemination purposes as well Russian teaching staff which was retrained in EU-institutions
during the three year previous JEP is available for these purposes.
The Coordinator from ETU (RF) as well as Contact person is professor Blinov Yuri.
He is also Head of the Electrotechnology and Converter Engineering Department of St.Petersburg Electotechnical University.
He was First Deputy of Principle Coordinator of TEMPUS Project T_JEP-10021-95 for the
Russian side. He is Coordinator from Russian side for the Compact Project CP_20021-98 "Dissemination of knowledge on modern
